November 11, 2006 Experience Music Project, 325 5th Ave. N., Seattle, 9 a.m. 6 p.m.Music/Tech Summit 06, hosted at the Experience Music Project's JBL Theater and Learning Labs, is a daylong gathering that will focus on the intersection of music and technology with an emphasis on how the changing landscape can empower artists and further their careers.
Thomas Dolby will be the opening speaker at 10 a.m. Dolby is best known for his massive 1982 hit, "She Blinded Me With Science." Among many other behind-the-scenes successes since then, Dolby founded Beatnik Inc., the company that created the polyphonic ringtone software used in more than 100 million mobile telephones.
J Allard will be the closing speaker at 5 p.m. Allard has overseen the creation of the much-anticipated Zune product from Microsoft, scheduled to launch a few days after the conference on Nov. 14.
The day will consist of a keynote address, three informative panels, lunchtime interactive demonstrations and a closing address.
Panels include "Get Your Music Out There: Pounding The Virtual Pavement," "Don't Give Away the Farm: Getting Paid For Your Music," and "Making It Happen: Music And Technology In Action," as well as the closing address "Through The Looking Glass: The Future Of Digital Music."
