SeattleOn Nov. 2 and Nov. 3, The Recording Academy's Pacific Northwest Chapter in conjunction with the P&E Wing proudly presented the 2nd Annual MusicTech Summit at EMP's JBL Theatre. Due to an incredibly positive response to the first MusicTech Summit and the amount of in-depth material to be covered, 2007 MusicTech became a two-day event featuring keynote speaker Terry McBride of Nettwerk Music Group.
The first day kicked off with Pacific Northwest Chapter President Steve Mack leading the demonstration, "Get It On(line): Building A Web Community For Your Music." Mack's demonstration led the sold-out crowd through the services and technologies available for musicians online and how to utilize them.
Other sessions included "Monetizing Music In The Digital Age," led by Muzak Sr. Audio Architect Dean Carlson; "Is The House Rockin'?: How Policy In Congress Makes Or Breaks The Music Business," spearheaded by Academy VP of Advocacy & Government Relations Daryl Friedman; and "Convergence: Mobile Devices And Music," moderated by journalist Mark Donovan.
Attendees were treated to two incredibly informative days that were both followed by post event receptions at the Solo Bar where guests enjoyed complimentary Heineken products and a light dinner buffet. Local DJ Cherry Canoe kept the mood upbeat at Solo as members networked and discussed the day's panels.
We could not have done this event without the contributions of the PNW Chapter Board of Governors; MusicTech Special Events Committee; Maureen Droney and the P&E Wing team; our sponsors; Lizzy Moore and Angelia Bibbs-Sanders; and all of the panelists and participants.
